Airport info (Cape Town)

Destination of the Week (Johannesburg)

Cape Town International Airport is Africa’s 3rd largest airport.  It is also Africa’s premier tourist and VIP destination and has established a reputation as Africa’s premier international award-winning airport, consistently performing among the best in the world for service in its category.Parking was improved in 2010 with the addition of two parkades either side of the Transport Plaza. Parkade 1 to the north of the terminal building contains 4,050 parking bays. Parkade 2 to the south contains 1,749 parking bays. Shaded car parking, offering 1,600 spaces, is located either side of the centralised car rental area; this can be reached via the pedestrianised subway.Shuttles are available to transport travellers to the relevant terminal.

Johannesburg represents the spirit of South Africa, and in some ways a visit to the country is not complete without an introduction to the city. It is he capital of Gauteng province and the largest city in the country; and is endearingly known to locals as Joburg, Jozi or Egoli (place of Gold). Indeed, mine dumps are never far away, rubbing shoulders with the fruits of its labour - shiny modern skyscrapers intermingled with 19th century architecture, Indian bazaars & African muti shops (where traditional healers dispense advice & traditional medicine). Johannesburg is the largest city in the world not situated on a lake, navigable river or by the coast (the only reason that it was born was because of gold). It is home to Africa's tallest building, the Carlton Centre.
